JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Field Operations leads and manages the field operations and supervisory staff of construction, according to the policies and goals established by the company. Responsibilities include but not limited to, leading and developing a strong, results-oriented field team focused on achieving the company’s goals and objectives in delivering a high-quality product.
This role is a management role but may be assigned as a project lead on larger projects.
Day to day activities:

Provide direct leadership to project superintendents, and assistant superintendents as required, coaching and mentoring employees to achieve a high level of performance.

Act as the point of escalation for complex problems, both of a technical and non-technical nature, assisting in the assessment of root cause and the resolution of problems.

Take the lead on productivity, monitoring work performance and efficiency of employees and subcontractors to ensure schedules are followed and projects are executed effectively.

Manage the material flow and crew schedules across multiple projects to optimize efficiency and costs.

Actively participate in Internal Project Reviews; review typically will cover compliance with design requirements, schedules, and budgets.

Ensure the Company’s Safety Program is implemented and adhered to across all jobs ensuring corrective actions for any deficiencies are taken immediately.

Ensure senior management is proactively kept abreast of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, employee issues and/or vendor issues.

Responsible to hire, train, troubleshoot, and supervise field personnel.

This position does not manage project managers.

Travel to major job sites.

Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.

Versed in all aspects of the construction management process. Pre-construction, construction and project closeout.

Knowledge to conduct on-going audits of all aspects of Field Operations. Demonstrate tenacity and sense of urgency to ensure realistic and consistent outcomes and delivery of services.

Capacity and ability to function as the leader and standard bearer for “Best in Class” Field Operations. Using Field Operations as a distinguishing factor to help establish contractor as a premiere provider of construction management services.

Provide strong leadership and support and continue to develop Field Operations. Ability to influence vendors and peers to meet company objectives.

Attract, retain and develop the best talent. Demonstrate talent for evaluating staff and deployment of field resources on projects of various size and complexity as projects demand.

Demonstrate ability to multi-task and operate in an “interruptive – driven” environment. Prioritize between competing issues, project needs, business needs, organizational issues, vendor relations and make judgments at a level consistent as a member of executive management.

Advanced knowledge of the construction industry and company operations required.

Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills a necessity.
Project Safety:

Responsible for the enforcement of project safety compliance program within the guidelines of the company policies.

Adhere to all OSHA and local safety requirements.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
-
10-15 years of job-related experience strongly desired.

Proven track record as construction expert including systems, logistics, scheduling, safety and personnel management.

Ability to lead the project team.
-
Must have been a field or project superintendent on several large residential projects with successful project delivery.

Experience with and proven understanding of scheduling, quality assurance, jobsite safety, and direct management of numerous subordinates.

Experience in construction contract administration process.

Ability to understand and to manage relationships between the company and vendors.

Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project)

Ability to comfortably communicate, both verbally in presentations and conversation, and in written correspondence to ECCC executive management, the project team, vendors, contractors and professional consultants.

Ability to give direction, adapt to change, establish relationships, build consensus and work in a team environment

High energy, enthusiastic personality and willingness to travel.
